Sunday 9th July
This morning we started with a Ocean Discovery trip we sailed south soon picking up our first two sunfish of the day. Shortly followed by our first interactive common dolphins of the day. We also saw two Risso’s Dolphins, one of which gave our guests great views racing up the boat bow-riding. We sailed south…
Wednesday 5th July
We had a four hour trip followed by a three hour today, so very busy. This morning we had amazing sightings in generally good conditions, apart from one dramatic squall which swept through when we were further west. We saw lots of Risso’s dolphins in two separate locations, and also multiple groups of common dolphins….
Tuesday 4th July
We had a four hour trip followed by a two hour trip today. As has become “normal” over the last few weeks, we found Risso’s dolphins first thing – we are starting to recognise some of them now as we get good ID shots, and we have certainly seen some of these individuals in previous…
Monday 3rd July
We were supposed to have two Ocean Discovery trips today, but it got do very windy by the end of the morning, we had to cancel the afternoon trip. And we’re pretty glad we did – it was 37mph at Land’s End this afternoon! This morning however we reefed right down and had a lovely…
Sunday 2nd July
It was very windy yesterday so it was the right choice for a day off. Back on the water today with a four hour then a three hour trip. This morning we spotted some Risso’s dolphins as we headed out of the bay – they were in quite an elusive mood but we did get…
Friday 30th June
After a fairly good run of weather, June has finished on rather a miserable note with a lumpy westerly sea state and some soggy drizzle! As has been the case the last few days though, the wildlife made up for it this morning, with lots of Risso’s dolphins spotted, a couple of which came over…
Thursday 29th June
We had a three hour Ocean Discovery followed by a four hour Discovery Voyage today – a busy day! This morning we found multiple groups of Risso’s dolphins – there are certainly a lot around at the moment. There were some younger, darker juveniles who we have seen several times this week, plus some older…
Wednesday 28th June
We had two Ocean Discovery trips today in dull occasionally drizzly conditions. This afternoon it properly rained – I guess our gardens and reservoirs need it! This morning we spotted a single Risso’s dolphin, which disappeared. Later at the end of the trip we found lots of them and had fantastic views. A little later…
Tuesday 27th June
It’s a grey and windy day so we just ran the one trip today – an Ocean Discovery this morning. Wildlife sightings were very good. We quickly had excellent views of a very sociable Risso’s dolphin who approached us and swam along for a time. We then motored into the choppy waves a bit further…
Monday 26th June
We had two fantastic trips today, with a Discovery Voyage in the morning and an Ocean Discovery trip in the afternoon. This morning we had two species of dolphins spotted, with great encounters with common dolphins and then with Risso’s. Risso’s dolphins can be shy and sedate but in the this instance they were very…
Saturday 24th June
It was a glorious sunny Mazey Day here in Penzance. On this morning’s four hour trip we went a long way south and found multiple pods of common dolphins. We also had great views of Risso’s dolphins closer to the coast, several hauled out grey seals. We had a very exciting first for us here…
