Thursday 15th June

bowriding dolphin

We had two Ocean Discovery trips today in calm conditions and hot sun. We saw grey seals down at the island, especially well this morning when they were hauled out on the rocks. We then headed westwards and everything seemed very quiet – until lots of feeding gannets were spotted in the far distance. Underneath there were lots of common dolphins busily hunting for fish – a great sight at this time of year when dolphin sightings can be quieter. We also spotted a couple of very elusive harbour porpoises. This afternoon was almost a carbon copy of the morning minus the seals as it was high tide by then.
