Sunday 27th July

common dolphin

It was another lovely day with a perfect sailing breeze.  We saw a group of harbour porpoises early on this morning followed by a few small groups of common dolphins . There were a couple of seals bottling round the island at the end of the trip. This morning everything was a bit more lively – there were nine seals hauled out on the rocks and a little way south loads of gannets diving alerted us to where a large pod of dolphins were feeding. On the horizon, lots of sails coming past showed us where the Fastnet competitors were racing, but the wind conditions this year meant they didn’t come too close in.
