Monday 22nd September

A sooty shearwater flying low over the ocean with blue waves in the background.

Dry and sunny today – a very welcome development. We had a three hour trip but sailed so far south west it turned into four hours! There was plenty of wildlife to be seen including large numbers of common dolphins and harbour porpoises (which were too quick to get photos of!) and sixteen seals hauled out on the island. These included adults males, pregnant females who still haven’t pupped, and little juveniles. There were some great seabird sightings including storm petrels, sooty and Manx shearwaters, loads of guillemots and razorbills, grey phalaropes and gannets.
