Wednesday 23rd August

minke whale
We had another mega long day with two Ocean Discovery trips followed by an evening Bay Discovery. The evenings are starting to draw in. This morning we observed a big feeding event with diving gannets and lots of common dolphins and bluefin tuna – this wasn’t too far out at all. We also had some lovely views of harbour porpoises in the morning calm, and grey seals hauled out on the rocks. This afternoon we had to go quite a lot further south, but it was worth it – lots more common dolphins, and a lunge feeding minke and fin whale! Whale sightings are certainly good around south Cornwall at the moment. We had a lovely  evening sail with four young families, and spotted more dolphins, porpoises and dozing grey seals. I’m feeling like the seals now – time to go home!
