Thursday 17th April
We had another lovely day on the water today. This morning there was hardly a breath of wind, and apart from the temperature, it felt like a July day out there, with common dolphins and masses of seabirds feeding almost from the start of the trip. They were very intent on their feeding and it felt as though they were very hungry – after watching from a distance a few of the dolphins came over to interact with us. There were several seals around the island too. This afternoon after watching the seals, we headed to where we could see flashes of white on the far horizon – when we got there, again there was masses of seabird feeding a activity, with huge numbers rafted up on the water. Hardly any fin activity though – a few passengers caught very brief glimpses of a couple of common dolphin fins slice through the water. However a little further on, we saw something rather bigger – a juvenile minke whale! No photos as it was so totally unpredictable, but everyone got to see at least one surface.
