It was a bit of a misty one this morning though the swell had dropped (slightly!). There were still so many seabirds out there – it’s an amazing sight watched them gliding and dipping over swells and into troughs with scarcely a flap. They were searching for food along big streams of foamy plankton which were very visible after the strong wind. There were also lots of fulmars, kittiwakes and auks, though not as many gannets today. We also saw a storm petrel, some common scoters and a pair of little egrets flying overhead. Inshore in the plankton there were lots of big blue jellyfish, some with very long tentacles – keep an eye out on the beaches this week. It was high tide so not the best time to be watching seals, but a big male swam purposefully over to us for a good stare at the end of the trip.
