Wednesday 6th August

common dolphin underwater

We had a four hour trip this morning in the early calm, which was very welcome after the strong breeze of yesterday. There were plenty of common dolphins and harbour porpoises about and the clear calm water allowed us some lovely clear views. Lots of shearwaters included a sooty among all the Manxes. On the afternoon Bay Discovery we watched the seals in the water round the island who were in a very active and curious mood – they were fascinated by one of the kayakers who was paddling. If she  felt like she was being watched that’s because there were six furry faces staring intently at her and following! We then had lovely views of a porpoise mum and calf, followed by three separate groups of very sleepy relaxed dolphins.
