Tuesday 26th March

juvenile grey seal

We had an ocean discovery in the spring sunshine this morning and were joined by eleven passengers. The sea was a bit chopped up in the south westerly wind but at least it was blue! There were lots of seals on the haul out site, both in the water and on the rocks including some young juveniles. It seems to be an important site for them locally at this time of year, as the young juveniles learn to navigate the area after their first winter. We also saw a female seal enjoying a fish she had caught near Porthcurno. It was quiet for fins but there were lots of seabirds to see including gannets, shearwaters, kittiwakes, guillemots, and shags with their breeding season crests.
