Sunday 21st July

common dolphins

We had a four hour followed by a two hour trip today. The morning was lovely and calm, though the wind got up in the afternoon making the sea pretty choppy. The morning saw a good variety of wildlife, including lots of grey seals, an ocean sunfish, harbour porpoises, common dolphins and then a quick view of a minke whale. One of the dolphins was noticeably melanistic. During the afternoon Bay Discovery, we had lovely views of Seaweed the bull seal stubbornly staying on his rock as the tide lapped higher. We got the sails up by Lamorna and headed south to where we could see some gannet activity, and had some great views of hunting common dolphins. Sailing back through the bay we found a sunfish which lay at the surface for ages, allowing us great views.
