Harbour porpoise

It was a cold windy day today and felt rather autumnal. The wind was from the north, so it wasn’t rough, just cool and choppy further offshore. We had two Ocean Discovery trips – on the first one we saw plenty of harbour porpoises and gannets, and at the end of the trip watched some grey seals squabbling on the rocks. The females were really moaning at each other, and the adult male intimidated a little juvenile into rolling off the rocks and back into the water. S/he was ok though. We also saw some bluefin tuna jumping. On the second trip, the seals had moved around a bit and separated out – probably for the best! We spotted a porpoise in the bay which surfaced a few times then moved on, and after that we went a long way south looking for seabird action but it was quite quiet. We had a good sail in the windy conditions.
