Monday 17th June

minke whale

What an absolutely cracking day we had today. It seems as though summer has finally arrived with a shift in the airflow and warmer temperatures. In the sea as well, we are starting to see blue jellyfish and ocean sunfish, a sure sign that the fronts have come closer in from offshore. We found three (!) minke whales, all of which gave us great views as they repeatedly surfaced. The second two were feeding and we saw them lunging through a large accompanying pod of common dolphins. The calm clear water gave us some extraordinary sights as these photos will hopefully show.
