Friday 6th June

a close up of a rock next to a body of water

We had two Ocean Discovery trips today, and the threatened rain held off almost all the time. We have been really lucky with the weather this week considering what we could have got. This morning despite the rising tide there were still several seals hauled out on the island with a few more in the water. One of these was a small juvenile who was watching everything that was going on from his or her high vantage point. During the afternoon trip new crew member Georgi spotted a pod of Risso’s dolphins further down the coast in the grey choppy conditions – never easy when they are being reserved. We had flybys from groups of gannets and shearwaters, and there were also some seals in the water.
