Friday 29th August

Seal lying on rocky shore with waves splashing around.

The wind and swell is playing havoc wit our schedule at  the moment, however we managed to sneak out for a Bay Discovery trip this morning. This was due to be a 3 hour trip but because of the wind and sea conditions we shortened it and stayed in the relative shelter of the Bay. We sailed out (under reefed sail!) just far enough to get a taster of the waves out there before coming back into shelter. The coast is  looking very autumnal already – we had some very heavy rain last night but on the whole the summer has been very dry even here. There were a few Manx shearwaters and gannets out there, and we had some lovely view of the seals as they snoozed unconcerned in the swell around the island. A couple were starting to haul out by the time we headed in. It was a lovely trip.
