Friday 1st August

August is the month when we could see anything, so it’s exciting to look forward to what could turn up this year. We had a brisk northerly wind blowing today which chopped the sea up a lot, but the wildlife was all there to be found. Again the porpoise sightings were amazing – we could actually watch them swimming through the water all around us, and they came so close that some of the photos are full frame with no zoom. There were also some very energetic feeding common dolphins on both trips, and some bluefin tuna seen this morning. Seabirds included loads of tiny storm petrels flitting around among the gannets and shearwaters.
