Wednesday 9th April

grey seal at Cudden

We had unbroken sunshine and blue sky all day again for our Ocean Discovery trips, though it was quieter for wildlife. April is mostly really inconsistent like that. We saw several seals on the island in the low morning sunlight, and flocks of seabirds flying on the breeze further offshore. This afternoon the wind really built over lunch, which meant we headed eastwards to the relative shelter of Cudden Point before sailing southwest on the easterly wind. The sea state was pretty interesting with an easterly swell and wind meeting an incoming chunky westerly swell. Nice! There were a couple of dozing seals, and all the seabirds were on the move rather than feeding but we enjoyed our sail in the strong spring sunshine.
