Wednesday 19th June

female seal

It was a quieter day today though we covered a wide area of sea searching. This morning on the Bay Discovery we saw grey seals hauled out who were striking a variety of poses – a male, a female and a juvenile for a bit of balance. We then sailed across the bay on the northeasterly breeze and saw a variety of seabirds. On the afternoon Discovery Voyage we went a long way south to the Epson Shoal and along westwards before back into shore. We saw some seals in the water and seabirds, including big groups of rafted manx shearwaters though we had a quiet afternoon for fins.
