Wednesday 13th September

surfacing common dolphin

We had a four hour followed by a three hour trip today. This morning there were large numbers of harbour porpoises in some big groups spotted. Conditions were lovely and calm, so spotting conditions were perfect. We also saw tuna, grey seals and common dolphins – there were hardly any seabirds around surprisingly. This afternoon we watched two seals a the island before heading south, where we found a really big group of common dolphins, numbering probably over sixty animals. They had some small calves with them and didn’t seem very interested in us. A little further along we saw two harbour porpoises, then we hoisted the spinnaker and had a lovely run along the coast.
