There’s some ugly weather coming in over the next few days – well it is August Bank Holiday after all. For today though, all was well and we had an Ocean Discovery and two Bay Discovery trips. This morning there were lots of common dolphins to the south quite near Mousehole, and the sea state was surprisingly benign considering the strong wind we had overnight. We also saw some bluefin tuna leaping and a few seals hauled out on the rocks. Over lunch we had a heavy shower and the swell suddenly built from the south. Conditions were trickier for spotting, but we found a small pod of common dolphins who were in quite a reserved avoidant mood so we kept our distance from them and let them get on with it. For the final tour of the day the dolphins we found were in more of an interactive mood and we also encountered a pod of Risso’s dolphins fairly close in – two juveniles first of all an then the adults started appearing. We also had great views of a beautiful tall ship under full sail.

I think we will all sleep well over the next few days!
