Sunday 18th June

common dolphins

It was cooler and greyer today with a bit more of a breeze, but thankfully we didn’t get any rain or thunder. This morning we went a long way south before we started picking up feeding seabirds and then Duncan spotted some far off splashing – common dolphins! Even when we got close to them they were pretty hard to spot, being busy charging down shoals of fish and staying under the water most of the time. We did get investigated eventually, giving our passengers some lovely views. On the way back in we saw five seals hauled out on the island who looked very relaxed and peaceful. On the afternoon four hour trips we saw lots more common dolphins, in small groups all over the place, possibly up to a hundred. We also got to sail a  lot more on the building breeze.
