Sunday 14th April

grey seals

Just a two hour trip today. At last the sea was flat and we had a really favourable westerly breeze, perfect for sailing almost the whole trip. We were a few hours off low tide, but there were already four seals hauled out on the rocks and several more in the water. There were severalĀ  wader species round the island, including oyster catchers, curlews and whimbrels. We then hoisted the sails and headed out into the bay where there were lots of seabirds either flying and swimming, but no feeding going on so it was quiet for fins. Perhaps this will change as the giant tides recede and the neaps return.
