Saturday 19th October

common dolphinr

We had a lovely trip in the sunshine this morning with some local people from St Ives and a family of visiting Texans. There was a punchy swell running ahead of the incoming wind and left behind from yesterday’s wind, but it was a great weather window. We watched some seals on and around the island first of all, then motored through the steep tidal race to Lamorna, hoisted the sails and sailed offshore. It was quiet for a while, but we were just enjoyed being out there and sailing over the swells. Quite suddenly further out we were “mugged” by a group of common dolphins who appeared out of nowhere. We enjoyed their company for a while, and found a further small group before sailing back shoreward. I do love these October trips!
