Saturday 18th July

There were some very small dolphin calves spotted this morning, some with their foetal folds clearly visible. We also saw some harbour porpoises on this four hour trip, lots of diving gannets and a few seals hauled out on the island. It was a little cooler today with a decent northerly breeze blowing which made conditions great for sailing. This afternoon for the two hour trip, even more seals had arrived, including Kelp who was stretched out on a rock next to two big males. Shortly after we got the sails up we saw a row of fins waving at us – three sunfish! They were all quite active so didn’t stay up too long, but everyone got to see them. The wind had picked up over lunch, making spotting conditions trickier – we had a good sail further out but didn’t manage to find any fins.
