Monday 16th June
We had two Ocean Discovery trips today and had great sightings on both. This morning we found a small group of common dolphins who stayed with us a while, lots of feeding seabirds and an ocean sunfish. We also saw a herring gull divebombing a heron, which we haven’t witnessed before. This afternoon we watched Kelp the grey seal haul out onto her favourite rock, where she lay like a banana for the next few hours (she was still there at the end of the trip). Sailing south we again picked up a lot of feeding Manx shearwaters and kittiwakes and a little further on, another small group of common dolphins. These gave us some lovely views as we sailed gently on the breeze. On coming back to the harbour we saw a barrel jellyfish which unfortunately had been slashed by a boat propeller.
