Monday 12th October

Seals resting on rocky shore with seaweed.

Conditions yesterday and overnight were really atrocious so the trip this morning was a bit of a bonus, especially when we woke up to thick fog. This cleared sufficiently by 10am to set off and the wind had dropped too, though the sea state was still pretty interesting! Mist drifted in and out throughout the trip, making for very atmospheric conditions and passengers lovely the sensation of sailing along in the peace and quiet once the breeze had risen a little. There was a fogbow at one point! All was quiet on the cetacean front, and the waves and mist didn’t help us much. The seals put on a really lovely show and we recorded them all for the Cornwall Seal Group’s autumn census. One of them looks a little anxious over her shoulder in the photo, but she was actually watching the antics of two of them in the water! One of the kittiwakes we spotted had two yellow rings on its legs so I wonder where that was done.

Looks a little windy this week so if you are booked on a trip please keep an eye on texts and emails for any updates.
