Wednesday 8th August

common dolphins
We had the weirdest day of weather today, with more thick murk at the start. This lifted enough for the trip to run in the morning and we had a great time with a local group of youngsters and their families. Lots of them were on a boat for the first time and we found them several groups of common dolphins and some seals at the end. Excitement was off the scale! The second group of dolphins had a really tiny calf with them – just a week or so old. This afternoon the sun came out initially and it felt warm and humid – again we saw several groups of common dolphins and different seabirds, and then the thickest sea mist we have ever seen descended quite suddenly. The water was oily calm and everything felt very quiet and eerie! At the island on the way in we found some seals hauled out on the rocks.
