Thursday 27th June

gannet

Bit of a contrast to yesterday! We had windy conditions this morning which got windier this afternoon, with some swell rolling in too. On the morning four hour trip we had great views of a pod of about 50 common dolphins, as well as plenty of seabirds and grey seals hauled out on the island. We had some excellent sailing on the westerly wind. On the afternoon three hour trip watched the seals, before motoring westwards to Penberth and sailing offshore to an area where there were gannets feeding along with hundreds of shearwaters whirring round. We looked in vain for fins, but were content with the exciting sailing and the seabird display as they poured constantly past the boat.
