Thursday 19th September

common dolphins
There was quite a lot of easterly wind today for our Discovery Voyage and Bay Discovery trips which made the sea choppy, but it was sunny and really warm. Sea conditions made spotting fins quite difficult – this morning we saw a few common dolphins briefly, and it looked as though there were porpoises feeding round seabirds. Couldn’t see them at that time though! There were some seals hauled out on the rocks and there are still some great shearwaters hanging around, which is lovely to see. During the afternoon we had a bit more shelter and were spotted some gannets feeding in the middle of the day, and this time the porpoises were more visible. There was a large male seal lying in the water dozing.
