Saturday 9th September

common dolphin
It wasn’t possible for it to be any calmer today! There was not a breath of wind and the water was like silk. A perfect summer’s day, only in September. We had a four hour followed by a three hour trip, and spotted lots of common dolphins and harbour porpoises on both. This morning we also had great views of bluefin tuna feeding with the dolphins, accompanied by seabirds such as gulls, gannets and shearwaters. There were even more jellyfish than there have been the last few days if anything – luckily these crystal and many-ribbed jellyfish’s sting is too weak to hurt. There are also quite a few compass jellies amongst them whose sting is a bit more painful!
