Saturday 12th July

common dolphin bowriding

It was still hot today but here we had a refreshing easterly breeze – in fact by the afternoon we could have done with slightly less refreshing breeze, but it made for some great sailing conditions. This morning while it was still calmer we found plenty of common dolphins and some grey seals hauled out on the rocks. We also had a brief glimpse of some Risso’s dolphins, but they quickly disappeared. This afternoon we saw some seals round the island, and though we searched hard for dolphins, there were none to be found. We had some great, close views of gannets. It was like sailing in the Med this afternoon – hot and sunny but very windy and exhilarating!
