Thursday 10th April

The fine sunny conditions continued today after a dull start, and we had a three hour followed by a two hour trip. This morning we had a very exciting sail in the strong breeze, after watching some very entertaining seals round the island. Seabirds skimmed past, though they were too fast for photos. This afternoon…

Wednesday 9th April

We had unbroken sunshine and blue sky all day again for our Ocean Discovery trips, though it was quieter for wildlife. April is mostly really inconsistent like that. We saw several seals on the island in the low morning sunlight, and flocks of seabirds flying on the breeze further offshore. This afternoon the wind really…

Tuesday 8th April

Another beautiful sunny day, though this morning that pesky easterly was still blowing. A few of our younger guests on this morning’s Bay Discovery were DESPERATE to sit on the net – we did warn them they would get wet if they did. Sure enough their wish was granted . We saw a couple of…

Monday April 7th

Despite the sunny spring weather, it’s been a really windy week, which has kept is port bound since last Monday. While it was still quite choppy, we were able to run a three hour trip this afternoon. We chose our easterly route which uses the shelter of the Lizard and Cudden point and allows us…

Monday 31st March

The extra hour of light meant we could run a trip at the end of the day. The sun shone though that easterly wind is making itself felt. There were a few seals around the island and we had a good view of a harbour porpoise which surfaced nearby. There were lots of guillemots and…

29th March 2025

We had fantastic sailing conditions on our tour today. We saw grey seals on the island and watched large numbers of gannets, Manx shearwaters and auks feeding. We headed out west and sailed home on the building south westerly wind.

Wednesday 26th March

We had a fantastic start to the season on this morning’s trip with not a breath of wind, mirror calm seas and wonderful sightings. After watching the hauled out seals on the island, we headed to where there seemed to be an awful lot of activity further out. After a couple of tantalising glimpses of…

The sun came out for a rather mild last Ocean Discovery trip of the 2024 season. We were pleased to squeeze this in. We were treated to a large group of common dolphins feeding with bluefin tuna just south of Mousehole. They were feeding under a mixture of gulls and gannets. The sun kept shinning…

Friday 1st November

Today was definitely the busiest November day we have ever had, with two Ocean Discovery trips. It was a grey gloomy day but the fog stayed away and we had some great sightings. On boat trips we saw lots of grey seals, bluefin tuna feeding and leaping and absolutely loads of common dolphins again. These…

Thursday 31st October

We had an Ocean Discovery trip this morning, and then took out a few local teens this afternoon for a half term sail and to see what wildlife they could spot. Conditions were perfect all day and we had some lovely sightings. Lots of seabirds showed us where bluefin tuna were feeding this morning, and…

Wednesday 30th October

We had an Ocean Discovery trip this afternoon with a mixture of locals and some late season visitors. It was a very similar day to yesterday with lots of common dolphins and bluefin tuna feeding inshore, along with all sorts of seabirds. These included gannets and gulls of course, and four species of shearwaters again….

Tuesday 29th October

It’s all still going on out there. This afternoon there was so much life in the bay and we had a wonderful trip, with some very happy people aboard. There were multiple areas where bluefin tuna were busting up at the surface, accompanied by screaming seabirds taking advantage of the fleeing fish – gannets, herring…
