Monday 6th October

Two dolphins swimming near the water surface with rocky coastline in background.

Mist and murk cleared this morning to leave a brighter morning, though this afternoon was very dim and autumnal. This morning we had the best porpoise encounter we have had for some time – in fact a couple of regulars described it as our best ever. After so many amazing dolphins, it’s such a treat to come face to face with the quieter and more reserved porpoises. Really hoping they’ll stick around for a while. We saw lots of dolphins too of course, feeding with the gulls and the tuna. This is probably the most consistent and habitual feeding we have ever had, and some of the tuna are real whoppers.

This afternoon it was all still going off, but as we watched everything quietened down meaning the dolphins because much more interactive. They delighted everyone on board with their antics and brightened up a dull, dark afternoon though luckily the forecast rain held off. Heading westwards we picked up a few more dolphins before finding a sleepy female seal hauled out at the end of the trip.

There’s no trip tomorrow because of the windy forecast, but a few spaces remain on Thursday afternoon’s 4 hour trip.
