Monday 25th August
It looks as though today is the last day of this lovely long spell of weather we have had for the moment. This morning we had a birthday trip for a very special boy – happy 9th birthday Seb! We found common dolphins near the Mount and had a lovely sail with them accompanying us, as well as some grey seals round the island and lots of seabirds. On the afternoon Discovery Voyage we had to go a really long way south but we had a good inkling we would find lots down there and sure enough we did. Common dolphins were feeding with gannets and shearwaters – more and more of them were spotted until we were surrounded. A bit further north we saw some gannets pouring into the water and heard the tell tale screaming of gulls and saw the churning white water showing where there were bluefin tuna (and more dolphins!) feeding. Some of the dolphins then accompanied us back for miles as we headed inshore under sail. It was a great bunch of people on board – thanks for coming, guys!
