Monday 23rd June

grey seals

We saw several grey seals hauled out on the rocks during the morning Ocean Discovery trip, including males, females and juveniles. Sailing westwards, we picked up a few shearwaters, gannets and guillemots but on the whole it was quieter offshore so we decided to go a different direction on the afternoon tour. The brisk north west wind gave us some exciting sailing conditions and we sailed a long way south where there was lots more birdlife and with a group raft of shearwaters, we found a small pod of common dolphins briefly. They moved so fast they were hard to photograph! We also saw a few grey seals in the water.
