Friday 26th July
We ran two trips today, a four hour Discovery Voyage and a three hour Ocean Discovery. The bay was full of common dolphins on both trips. The first ones this morning were a sleepy group in the grey of the morning which did a big lazy loop round us. Shortly after we found lots more very awake ones, in pods here there and everywhere. We headed west but it was quieter down there so we headed back along the coast and found a small group of harbour porpoises and some grey seals.
During the afternoon, the gannet sightings were spectacular, including a group who were almost walking over a raft of seaweed. Again there were hundreds of dolphins to be found in several pods, who swam alongside us for a while. This time we sailed south and found even more dolphins. There were several seals hauled out on the island.
