Sunday 13th April
Today we had our first Discover Marine Science day. After the sunshine of last week, in the strong westerly wind it felt freezing! We initially had some introductions to species ID, photo ID and the marine geography of Mount’s Bay in the office, before heading out. There were plenty of grey seals around the island…
Friday 11th April
What a beautiful sunny week it’s been – there’s hardly been a cloud in the sky. The sea was a bit calmer today after the easterly breeze finally dropped to almost nothing, so we were able to head a bit further west and out to sea. There were plenty of seals, on and round the…
Thursday 10th April
The fine sunny conditions continued today after a dull start, and we had a three hour followed by a two hour trip. This morning we had a very exciting sail in the strong breeze, after watching some very entertaining seals round the island. Seabirds skimmed past, though they were too fast for photos. Monday 31st March
The extra hour of light meant we could run a trip at the end of the day. The sun shone though that easterly wind is making itself felt. There were a few seals around the island and we had a good view of a harbour porpoise which surfaced nearby. There were lots of guillemots and…
29th March 2025
We had fantastic sailing conditions on our tour today. We saw grey seals on the island and watched large numbers of gannets, Manx shearwaters and auks feeding. We headed out west and sailed home on the building south westerly wind.
Wednesday 26th March
We had a fantastic start to the season on this morning’s trip with not a breath of wind, mirror calm seas and wonderful sightings. After watching the hauled out seals on the island, we headed to where there seemed to be an awful lot of activity further out. After a couple of tantalising glimpses of…
