Friday 30th October – We headed out to help the Friends of Jubilee Pool get some photos of the pool from the sea and were greeted by the inshore pod of bottlnose dolphins 14 – 16 of them.

Sunday 25th October – Once again it was a great day out there. We saw multiple pods of common dolphins, multiple pods of harbour porpoises, bluefin tuna feeding, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Tuesday 20th October – There were 100’s of common dolphins out there today along with good numbers of harbour porpoises. We saw a variety of seabirds as well. 

Monday 19th October – Today we saw lots of harbour porpoises, a grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Sunday 18th October – More common dolphins today, multiple pods up to a total in excess of 100. We also saw a pod of feeding harbour porpoises, grey seals and seabirds including a Balearic shearwater. 

Saturday 17th October – Mount’s Bay was alive with common dolphins, lots of harbour porpoises and score of bluefin tuna. We also saw a grey seal (Arrowflight) and a variety of seabirds including Eddie the local eider duck. 

Monday 12th October – A superpod of common dolphins today! Along with multiple harbour porpoise encounters, a grey seal and a variety of seabirds.

Friday 9th October – Common dolphins again today along with grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Saturday 3rd October – A great day today. A large pod of common dolphins, lots of harbour porpoises, grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

 

Friday 2nd October – Today we saw a harbour porpoise, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Saturday 26th September – Sunshine and a nice breeze for sailing. We saw lots of Risso’s dolphins, harbour porpoises, a grey seal and a variety of seabirds.

Friday 25th September – It was a lovely day out on the water today. We saw lots of harbour porpoises, a grey seal and a variety of seabirds including storm petrels and great skuas.

Monday 21st September – We had fresh winds once again today which made for great sailing. We saw common dolphins, harbour porpoises, an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Sunday 20th September –  We saw a harbour porpoise, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a pomarine skua.

Saturday 19th September – Today we saw common dolphins, more than 45 harbour porpoises, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including Balearic shearwaters.

Friday 18th September – Today we saw harbour porpoises, ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including  storm petrels and Balearic shearwaters.

Tuesday 15th September – September was back to normal today! We found a large pod of common dolphins feeding under clouds of gannets. We also had a visit from a second nursery pod of common dolphins on the way in. We saw grey seals and a variety of seabirds as well including storm petrels and sooty shearwaters.

 Saturday 12th September – Challenging conditions today with a big left over swell and a little chop on top. We saw an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a number of Balearic shearwaters. 

Friday 11th September – We finally got out again today after the rough seas of the last few days had abated slightly. We saw a number of harbour porpoises, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Tuesday 8th September – It was a little rough today. We managed to squeeze one trip in before the sea state deteriorated completely. We saw harbour porpoises and a variety of seabirds.

Monday 7th September – Incredible numbers of harbour porpoises about today (98 in total), we had an explosion of feeding bluefin tuna in the afternoon and saw grey seals all day. There was a good variety of seabirds around including a pomarine skua and common scoters. 

Sunday 6th September – We had a lovely encounter with harbour porpoises today and also saw grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Saturday 5th September – The harbour porpoises were about in larger numbers again today. They were trickier to watch in the morning and more co-operative in the afternoon 44 in total. We also had an ocean sunfish that breached lots of times right by the boat. We saw grey seals and a variety of seabirds too. 

Friday 4th September – We saw 5 harbour porpoises, grey seals and a variety of seabirds today.

Thursday 3rd September – It certainly felt cold out there today. We saw harbour porpoises, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a sooty shearwater. 

Wednesday 2nd September – We saw common dolphins, harbour porpoises, a breaching ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a great skua.

Tuesday 1st September – Today we saw a large pod of common dolphins, harbour porpoises, 2 ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a great skua.

Monday 31st August – Another amazing harbour porpoise day today with multiple large pods. There were a number of grey seals hauled out on the island too and we saw a variety of seabirds. 

Sunday 30th August – Today we saw lots of harbour porpoises (more than 80 again!) an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Saturday 29th August – We saw a number of pods of common dolphins, lots of harbour porpoises, lots of ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including Cory’s shearwaters, sooty shearwaters, Balearic shearwaters and great skuas 

Friday 28th August – Today we saw another humpback whale! We also saw harbour porpoises, an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a sooty shearwater and storm petrels. 

 

Thursday 27th August – Gannet feeding frenzies and common dolphins were present offshore all day today. We also saw grey seals, lots of storm petrels and all the other usul seabirds.

Monday 24th August – Fantastic sailing with lots of harbour porpoises including multiple breaching displays! We also saw grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Sunday 23rd August – Another fantastic day on the water. With common dolphins on all the longer trips including a super pod of 100+ feeding under a cloud of gannets. We saw a large pod of harbour porpoises in the evening and ocean sunfish and grey seals throughout the day and a variety of seabirds. 

Saturday 22nd August – Despite the rainy weather we had some fantastic sightings today. These included 2 pods of common dolphins, over 60 harbour porpoises, 3 ocean sunfish, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Tuesday 18th August – Today was the day of the all day bottlenose dolphin / Balearic shearwater survey with Marinelife. We had a great day spotting 82 harbour porpoises, 5 Risso’s dolphins, more than 24 common dolphins and 8 ocean sunfish.

Monday 17th August – We saw Risso’s dolphins this morning, at least 20 including a number of calves. There were lots of harbour porpoises around all day along with ocean sunfish and good numbers of grey seals. We also saw a variety of seabirds.  

Sunday 16th August – Once again today provided some fantastic sightings. In the morning Risso’s dolphins, harbour porpoises, ocean sunfish and grey seals. In the afternoon we saw bluefin tuna, common dolphins, harbour porpoises and grey seals. We also saw a variety of seabirds throughout the day including black terns and a great skua. 

Saturday 15th August – This year seems to keep turning up the unexpected. Today Mount’s Bay was invaded by a 9 square mile shoal of blue fin tuna. It was spectacular to watch them erupting at the surface!. We also saw harbour porpoises, ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including storm petrels. 

Friday 14th August – We had a strong breeze today making offshore spotting conditions a challenge. We saw 20+ harbour porpoises, common dolphins feeding under gannets, 3 ocean sunfish including a breacher, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Thursday 13th August – It was a wet rainy day today brightened up by the wildlife. We saw a large pod of common dolphins, 26 harbour porpoises, 2 ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a great skua and lots of storm petrels.

Wednesday 12th August – There was a good veriety of wildlife around today. We saw the injured Risso’s dolphin again at numerous points throughout the day. There were lots of harbour porpoises around again (56 today). We saw 5 ocean sunfish and excitingly two blue sharks one cruising at the surface and the other investigating a floating bottle. There were a variety of seabirds seen including storm petrels.

Tuesday 11th August – What an exciting day! A humpback whale, lots of common dolphins, Risso’s dolphins, more than 90 harbour porpoises, lots of ocean sunfish, grey seals and avariety of seabirds including multiple storm petrels. 

Monday 10th August – We had a flyby from some common dolphins today as well as seeing an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Saturday 8th August – A day of harbour porpoises and ocean sunfish along with an assortment of other things. I logged an amazing 107 harbour porpoises today, 7 ocean sunfish, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a storm petrel, pomarine skua, great skua and Balearic shearwater. 

Friday 7th August – An incredible day of harbour porpoises, common dolphins and a minke whale. We saw lots of harbour porpoises and common dolphins. We also saw ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a great skua and Balearic shearwater.

Thursday 6th August – Today was a great day on the water. We saw common dolphins, lots of harbour porpoises, lots of ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a puffin and Balearic shearwater. 

Monday 3rd August – We had to run shorter trips today due to the sea conditions. We saw an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Saturday 1st August – Mount’s Bay was full of common dolphins this morning there must have been 100+. We also saw them again in the afternoon along with an ocean sunfish and a harbour porpoise. The grey seals were in their usual places and there were a variety of seabirds out there.

Friday 31st July – There were lots of common dolphins and harbour porpoises around today. We also saw oceans sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Thursday 30th July – Today we saw harbour porpoises, 3 ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including puffins.

Wednesday 29th July – Incredible Risso’s dolphin encounter in the morning and then we saw them again in the afternoon. We also saw common dolphins in the morning and afternoon including seeing multiple pods in the pm. The grey seals were hauled out in their usual places and there were lots of feeding seabirds all day.

Tuesday 28th July – Great to be back out after two days of rough weather. We saw a minke whale, lots of Risso’s dolphins, common dolphins, harbour porpoises, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a pomarine skua and Balearic shearwaters. 

Saturday 25th July – It was the start of national whale and dolphin watch today and we saw Risso’s dolphins, common dolphins, harbour porpoises, ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Thursday 23rd July – What an incredible day: Multiple pods of common dolphins and Risso’s dolphins all day along with lovely views of harbour porpoises, lots of ocean sunfish and at the end of the day a basking shark. We also saw grey seals and a variety of seabirds including two puffins.

 Wednesday 22nd July – We had Risso’s dolphins on all trips today. We also saw harbour porpoises, lots of ocean sunfish including a number of breachers, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Tuesday 21st July – Fantastic Risso’s dolphin sightings again today, lots of mother and calf pairs. We also saw an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a Balearic shearwater.

Sunday 19th July – It seems that the Risso’s dolphins are still around in large numbers. We saw them all day again today. We also saw harbour porpoises, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds. We took out the No Tanx freedivers this morning, which is aways fun.

Saturday 18th July – Another amazing day with common dolphins, Risso’s dolphins, more than 50 harbour porpoises, 2 ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabird including a sooty shearwater and a pomarine skua.

Friday 17th July – The forecast was for a rough sea today so initially we cancelled everything. The weather calmed quickly and we managed to head out for an evening trip we saw and ocean sunfish, grey seals and some spectacular feeding frenzies with gannets, shearwaters and gulls gorging themselves. 

Thursday 16th July – There were more common dolphins out there today; this time a sleepy restful pod. We also saw a number of different small pods of harbour porpoises, lots of ocean sunfish, grey seals an a variety of seabirds including a sooty shearwater and a Balearic shearwater.

Wednesday 15th July – The Risso’s dolphins were around again today along with lots of harbour porpoises, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Tuesday 14th July – Despite the drizzly conditions we had some great sightings in Mount’s Bay. A minke whale, 30 common dolphins, 4 harbour porpoises, an ocean sunfish and grey seals. We also saw a variety of seabirds including a great shearwater, a balearic shearwater, pomarine skuas and an eider duck.

Saturday 11th July – Today we saw 25 harbour porpoises, 2 basking sharks (one breaching, an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Friday 10th July – Today we saw Risso’s dolphins, harbour porpoises, a basking shark, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including ots of Mediterranean gulls.  

Thursday 9th July – Today we saw 6 pods of common dolphins, 2 pods of Risso’s dolphins, harbour porpoises, a basking shark, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Wednesday 8th July – We ran short trips again today to avoid the rough sea further west. We saw a big basking shark 7 metre, 6 harbour porpoises, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Sunday 5th July – Once again we had to just do short trips today to avoid the rough sea further west. We saw grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Saturday 4th July – Today we saw harbour porpoises, an ocean sunfish, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds. There was also a smack of moon jellies in the middle of the bay.

Thursday 2nd July – Today we saw two big pods of common dolphins, multiple pods of Risso’s dolphins, a basking shark, breaching ocean sunfish, grey seals and lots of seabirds.

Wednesday 1st July – What a day! Risso’s dolphins all day in large numbers, 2 sightings of a juvenile minke whale (unsure if it was one animal twice or two animals separately), 8 harbour porpoises, an ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds. 

Monday 28th June – Today we saw Risso’s dolphins again, along with harbour porpoises, ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Saturday 27th June – Today we saw lots of Risso’s dolphins (1 in the morning and more than 30 in the afternoon), harbour porpoises, a staggering 21 ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Friday 26th June  – Today we saw 2 juvenile minke whales, lots of harbour porpoises, lots of ocean sunfish and a variety of seabirds. 

Thursday 25th June – Today we saw lots of ocean sunfish, grey seals, a variety of jellyfish and a variety of seabirds.

Wednesday 24th June – Today we saw lots of harbour porpoises, lots of ocean sunfish, grey seals, a variety of jellyfish including a crystal jellyfish and a variety of seabirds.

Tuesday 23rd June – Today we saw harbour porpoises, grey seals, ocean sunfish, barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds. 

Sunday 21st June – Today we saw grey seals and seabirds including puffins.

Saturday 20th June – It was a bit foggy offshore to day for searching properly. We saw a breaching ocean sunfish, grey seals, barrel jellyfish and a good variety of seabirds including puffins, great skuas and loads of feeding shearwaters.

Friday 19th June  – Today we saw common dolphins, 4 ocean sunfish, grey seals, barrel jellyfish, moon jellyfish and seabirds including lots of Manx shearwaters and puffins.

Thursday 18th June  – Today we saw grey seals, barrel jellyfish, a variety of seabirds and Eddie our resident eider duck. 

Wednesday 17th June – Today we saw ocean sunfish, grey seals and a variety of seabirds.

Monday 15th June – Today we saw common dolphins, 2 ocean sunfish, a grey seal, lots of barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds.

Sunday 14th June – Today we saw 2 ocean sunfish and one was breaching, we also saw a grey seal, barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds including 100’s of Manx shearwaters.

Friday 12th June – Today we saw a Risso’s dolphin, an ocean sunfish, grey seals, a variety of seabirds and barrel jellyfish. 

Monday 8th June  – Today we saw a basking shark, lots of grey seals, barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds.

Sunday 7th June – Today we saw harbour porpoises, grey seals, barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds including puffins and a great northern diver.

Saturday 6th June – Today we saw grey seals and a variety of seabirds

Thursday 4th June – Today we saw harbour porpoises, two even breached clear of the water! We also saw grey seals, barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds including huge flocks of Manx shearwaters and a few storm petrels. The male eider duck is still hanging around the harbour.

Saturday 30th May – The Risso’s dolphins are still around we saw them 5 times today, we also saw grey seals, a variety of seabirds and barrel jellyfish.

Friday 29th May – Once again we were spoilt with Risso’s dolphins. who are still feeding on cuttlefish in the Bay. There could be as many as 50 of them in the vicinity. We also saw grey seals and seabirds.

Thursday 28th May – Once again we saw Risso’s dolphins on all of our trips today. We also saw grey seals, a variety of seabirds and barrel jellyfish.

Wednesday 27th May – Today was a Risso’s day.  We had multiple encounters with them on all of our trips. There seemed to be loads around! We also saw grey seals, a variety of seabirds and barrel jellyfish.

Tuesday 26th May – Today we saw Risso’s dolphins, grey seals, a variety of seabirds and lots of barrel jellyfish.

Monday 25th May – Today we saw grey seals, a variety of seabirds including puffins and lots of barrel jellyfish. There were Risso’s dolphins out to the West

Sunday 24th May – It was very foggy for most of the day today we saw puffins, great skuas, a great northern diver, lots of Manx shearwaters, lots of gannets, a variety of other seabirds and lots of barrel jellyfish.

Saturday 23rd May – Today we saw harbour porpoises, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a male eider duck.

Friday 22nd May – Today we saw an otter! Lots of grey seals and a good variety of seabirds. The male eider is still hanging around the harbour and the bay is full of barrel jellyfish.

Thursday 21st May – Today we saw an ocean sunfish, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds including rafts of 100s of Manx shearwaters. We also saw a male Eider duck and lots of barrel jellyfish.

Sunday 17th May – Today we saw common dolphins, lots of grey seals and a variety of seabirds including pomarine skuas.

Saturday 16th May – Today we saw a young harbour porpoise calf; sadly it was on its own and at an age that it will not be able to survive without it’s mother. We also saw lots of grey seals, lots of barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds. The eider duck is still in the harbour.

 Friday 15th May – Today we saw harbour porpoises, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including great northern divers and and Eider duck.

Monday 11th May  – Today we saw a big 8 metre basking shark, grey seals and a variety of seabirds including a puffin.

Saturday 9th May – Today we saw common dolphins, they came racing in right behind us as we sailed down wind. We also saw harbour porpoises, a mother and an hours old new born calf. The calf was still getting used to its fins swimming erratically and forcing its whole head  up vertically to breath. There were grey seals on the island and a good variety of seabirds around too.

Thursday 7th May – Today we saw grey seals and a variety of seabirds. The barrel jellyfish were everywhere.

 Monday 4th May – Today we saw harbour porpoises, grey seals and seabirds.

Monday 27th April – Today we saw grey seals and seabirds. There were swarms of barrel jellyfish around too.

  

Sunday 26th April – Today we saw harbour porpoises and a variety of seabirds.

Saturday 25th April – Watched 2 basking sharks feeding from the cliffs above Porthcurno today.

Monday 13th April – Today we saw our first basking shark of the year and it was a big one! We also saw grey seals, barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds including puffins.

 Saturday 11th April – Today we saw 20 harbour porpoises, grey seals, barrel jelly fish and a variety of seabirds.

Friday 10th April – Today we saw a harbour porpoise, lots of grey seals, barrel jellyfish and a variety of seabirds.

Sunday 5th April – Today we saw harbour porpoises, bottlenose dolphins, lots of grey seals, lots of barrel jellyfish  and a variety of seabirds including puffins, great northern divers and lots of Manx shearwaters.

Saturday 4th April – Today we saw harbour porpoises on all trips as well as grey seals. There were also a variety of seabirds to be seen including a Glaucous gull and Great Northern Diver. There were plenty of barrel jellyfsh to be seen as well.

 

Thursday 2nd April – Today we saw a pod of 7 bottlenose dolphins, 3 harbour porpoises, 6 grey seals (including a very curious youngster) and a variety of seabirds including lots of puffins. A peregrine falcon also gave us a flyby.

Monday 23rd March – First sail of the year and we were joined by 16 bottlenose dolphins.
